Welcome to elbMUN 2012!
Facing Regional Challenges in a Globalized World

After last year's huge success with elbMUN 2011, this year’s elbMUN 2012 will be the third United Nations simulation held in the historic city of Dresden.
It’s time again: The “Model United Nations” by the Elbe enters the third round. From April 17th until April 21st 2012, a group of students from the Technical University of Dresden is presenting elbMUN 2012. This simulation of a UN conference in English takes place in the Saxon State Parliament, under the patronage of its President Dr Matthias Roessler and unites more than 170 committed students from all over the world in the beautiful city of Dresden.
You can expect challenging debates within the Security Council, Economic and Social Council as well as within two General Council committees. Stepping into the role of an UN diplomat, you will represent the country you have chosen and deliver speeches according to procedural standards. Together with other delegations, you will form a coalition, as well as elaborate and pass resolution concepts.
Under the slogan "Facing Regional Challenges in a Globalized World", agenda topics include the Arab Spring, Land Grabbing, Human Rights within Islam, Demilitarization and many more.
To get in touch with and interact with other participants, broaden your horizons, and have fun during this intercultural exchange beyond the confines of the conference, we offer you a wide and varied program: guest speakers from international political arenas, an exciting experience in Dresden’s world cultural heritage as well as social events such as a city tour, a concert, and the final elbMUN ball with the motto "Dancing in the MUNlight".
